Long ago, Cassius kept Hakon captive, experimenting on him to see if he could turn him into a Tainted. Cassius thought his experiments had failed, but Hakon is now a Tainted, as well as the Seer to the king of the Tainted, Myndill. Hakon never expected to meet Cassius again. But Cassius is now King Myndill’s captive, and is at both the king’s and Hakon’s mercy. Hakon hates Cassius, but he’s also Cassius’ only chance to get out of King Myndill’s captivity alive.
